Brian M. SmithProject Manager/Business DevelopmentMr Smith has more than thirty years experience in the Marine Industry including Marine and Propulsion Systems Design and Technical Services, Ship Construction, Business Development, Project Management, Marine Consulting, Marine Security, Vessel Response Planning, Quality Assurance & Public Relations. As Vice President of a major US shipyard and prior to forming an independent marine consulting concern, Mr Smith was responsible for all aspects of Business Development, Strategic Planning and Marketing leading to the first multi-million shipyard contract in the new shipyard. As an independent consultant, Mr Smith has prepared company business plans and advised on proposed startup shipyards on the US West Coast, and prepared specifications, plans and estimates for a marine terminal in the West Indies, and is familiar with ship safety, security and training aspects of IMO and USCG regulations. Mr Smith also has many years experience in Project Management with ship construction for the Canadian Federal Government, and international power station construction experience for the energy and process industries. Following an engineering apprenticeship with WH Allen Sons & Company (now part of Rolls-Royce) and obtaining a B.Sc. from Mander College, Bedford (endorsed by The Knowledge Company, Fairfax, VA), Mr Smith completed studies at Oxford University, (business administration); York University, (finance) and The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania (financial management under a Litton executive education program).
